About the Band

THE CHRIS FARR BAND

Hailing from Canada like a meteorite destined to fall smack-dab in the middle of Tokyo making waves of hellfire and napalm is CHRIS FARR. While his first album Scientific Flying Contraption, a hodgepodge of modern surf instros and fliky sci-fi anthems, is almost entirely written and performed by Chris himself, he has since formed the Japan-based ANDROID BEACH PARTY in order to realize his spacey, reverbed visions.

PACIFICTION REVIEW:

CHRIS FARR's self-produced debut album is a mixed bag of wired sounds of modern surf, experimental garage and even touches of acoustic and metal making it a nifty folk concoction for the 21st century. Songs like "Gamma Ray" and "Skeleton Waltz" are prime examples of "filk music," or folk warped by an addiction to sci-fi and fantasy. But some of the hottest tracks involve Chris' wild surf guitar like "Flux Capacitor" and "666 Volts" where inspiration can be traced to the likes of SHADOWY MEN ON A SHADOWY PLANET and MAN OR ASTRO-MAN? CHRIS FARR currently has a band in Tokyo called ANDROID BEACH PARTY with a cult of its own waiting for a follow up release.
