About the Band

THE SHOCK TROOPS

Hailing from Nagoya City, THE SHOCK TROOPS formed in the early 2010's among a crew skins & punk with bent for hard mod fashion and working class British anthems, owing their name to a COCK SPARRER album. They began redefining local street punk with a throbbing blues beat and wailing harmonica at THE BOOT UP!, a central Japan punk showcase run by the label Modernedge Records where they soon released their first mini-album. In 2012, they toured Japan with THE VOX DOLIMITE from the UK and have their boots laced up for new horizons.

PACIFICTION REVIEW:

THE SHOCK TROOPS' debut mini-album opens up with blaring harmonica, slashing street rock guitars & growling Japanese vocals recalling the roots of the local Oi! scene. Get ready for thumping bass and blues-infused street punk that provide a soundtrack to strutting down the city alleys of Nagoya City in search of a pint or a jar of cheap sake, take your pick! Not to mention some fist-pumping anthems that hearken back to the days of hard skins jostling their way to stage front. THE SHOCK TROOPS might come off like sounding like their obvious UK Oi! influences, yet have a garage blues vibe akin to Brit trash rockers ARMITAGE SHANKS making them something unlike most Japanese street punk bands to date.
