About the Band

RADIO SHANGHAI

This Kyoto-based band experiments with post punk and new wave sounds going back to the days of skinny tie coolness and mod revival pretension. Suzu and Chihiro simultaneously played in the punky group THE PRAMBATH during RADIO SHANGAI's decade of existence. Despite breaking up they remain an influence on the younger power pop bands to arise recently on the scene

PACIFICTION REVIEW:

Known in Japan for their new wave approach, you can hear it on "Huv I The Right?" with hicuppy vocals, hand claps and a punk edge to the guitar attacks. "Artificial Work" goes further into quirky DEVO style electro pop, but always keeping a jagged post punk vibe. RADIO SHANGHAI are a now-classic Japanese band and these songs fit perfect into a retro 80's punk set for those willing to delve into the outer reef.
