PACIFICTION REVIEW:ARMED SUSPECTS have been called "Smart Oi!" because of their knack for taking street punk and throwing in scraps of metal, country and rock n' roll to anthemic working class punk lyrics about friendship, unity and life struggles. The instrumental intro to Next Stop, New scene is enough to get a beer in your hands and ready for the what's next, which is just about everything a good Oi! record should have. "Your Freedom" confronts the paradox of patriotism. The liquor-soaked love song "Bottle O' Whiskey" washes things down right, and "The Answers" tells of being left out and ignored for belonging to a sub-culture as the lyrics go "I've been searching for all the answers, but no one gives me the time of day." The nostalgic drinking song "O'farrels" is enough to get your buddies charging arm-in-arm to the sing-a-long "drink, drank, drunk!" chorus and celtic punk-esque riffs. With a rock n' roll shuffle, "Back on Track" tells the story of getting your life sorted. With lyrics anyone can relate to and instrumentation that goes far beyond the usual three chord street punk blitz, ARMED SUSPECTS are worth the time of day. |
