PACIFICTION REVIEW:

Now Generation is a lyrical, melodic and hardcore assault on political apathy and social injustice, and, more often than not, gives a heavy kick in the face to American imperialism. While most tracks come off musically as straight-foward punk songs, the eerie chants and tribal drumming behind the chorus of "Careful What You Vote For" make it more of a warning than a political statement. The title track is rally for youth to get active through its anthemic chant: "that means fight for the living." CONSIDER THE MEEK's dedication to animal rights is presented on "Leave Me Alone" which contains carefully crafted metaphors for animal suffering to guitar riffs and a driving punk beat. Totally diverging into weirdness is "Orwell Was Right," an out-music electronica tribute to science fiction dystopia distilled in the fear of its reality. Getting back to hardcore roots, "Landmines" charges through a completely real and terrifying issue in DEAD KENNEDYS fashion. "Taiwan Good Chinese Missles Bad" is a dedication to the band's home base of Taiwan which is under constant threat of China for its declarations of sovereignty. "Take Afghanistan" questions the reasons for invading the Middle East country through punk verses and choruses of exotic surf-sounding bass lines. Closing out the album is the charged, yet fatalistic "Nobody Will Ever Win."

CONSIDER THE MEEK have put out a relevant album dealing with issues flowing through the undercurrent of today's global concerns. The lyrics are tactful and poignant and the music diverges pleasantly from the usual hardcore and melodic punk of similar bands.
